Community Action & Environmental Justice Exhibition:
July 28th – August 15th, 2007
This exhibition features two installations.

The Smith Memorial Exhibition features photographs from environmental justice activists across the nation. Photos embody the work of the late Damu Smith, tireless champion of environmental and human rights.

Southside Photovoice Project
September 17th through October 1st, 2007
features the work of 14 African American mothers on Syracuse’ Southside in an action research project called “Photovoice”.
The Community Photovoice Exhibit will be on display in the Panaschi Lounge from September 17th through October 1st, 2007.

The Panaschi Lounge, a quiet space for SU students to gather, is located on the Syracuse University campus in the Schine Student Center. On weekends, the lounge becomes home to Perc Place, a campus coffeehouse that features acoustic talents and novelty programming.

Carol Boyce Davies, Guest Speaker:
September 25th, 2007

Carole Boyce Davies is Trinidadian by birth and Caribbean-American by current dual citizenship arrangements. She was a Fulbright Professor at the University of Brasilia, Brazil, has served as President of the African Literature Association and the Association of Caribbean Women Writers and Scholars, and was Founding President of The Women’s Caucus of the African Literature Association.
Carol Boyce Davies will join us as a guest speaker for our Environmental Justice and Black Feminism Lecture Series on September 25th, 2007, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
