Black Feminism and Environmental Justice Lecture Series

Bailey, McFadden, Daview

The goal of this lecture series is to strengthen collaborative relationships between AAS, other university departments, and the Syracuse community. All events are open to both the academic community and the public.

Each lecture features a noted guest scholar speaking on topics relevant to today’s Black Feminism and Environmental Justice issues.

On April 4th, 2007, Nellie Hester Bailey, co-founder and Director of the Harlem Tenants Council, spoke on “The Politics of Land in New York City: Gentrification Targets Low Income Communities of Color.”

Dr. Patricia McFadden, a noted Black feminist-scholar, joined us on April 17th to speak about “European Neo-imperial Militarization in Africa: Emerging Challenges to African Feminism."

To request a video of one of the speakers from the Black Feminist Lecture Series, please contact the Department of African American Studies at (315) 443-4302
