Gender & Environmental Justice Symposium
In the spring of 2008, we are holding a Gender, Health, and Environmental Justice Symposium in Syracuse, NY. The symposium, featuring both Syracuse University scholars and nationally-distinguished panelists, will address the intersection of race, gender, health and the environment.
Areas of focus will include the different elements of environmental justice and their significance in the daily social reality of Black communities across the US. The symposium will also emphasize the role of women and the strength of the Black family in communities under perpetual assault from environmental health hazards.
Symposium planning will be a partnership between various community leaders in and around Syracuse. As a result, the symposium will reflect the needs and interests of the Syracuse Community.
The academic community, Syracuse community leaders, and the public will be invited to attend and learn from leaders in the fields of Black feminism and environmental justice.
