Graduate Student Information

Heidy Borja Hernandez received her law degree with a specialization in criminal law from the Universidad de Especialidades Espiritu Santo (Ecuador) in August, 2012. She provided legal aid from 2010 to 2011 in the UEES legal office, in particular family law. As a masters student in Pan African Studies at Syracuse University, Heidy’s research focuses on the criminalization of racist acts in Ecuador and its effectiveness on the legal system. Her investigation analyses the enforcement of the constitution, criminal code and international law to enforce the principle of non-racial discrimination. Currently, she is a Teaching Assistant for Prof. Kishi Animashaun Ducre.
