Graduate Student Information
Kirsten R. Willis is from Huntsville, Texas. She did her undergraduate work at Sam Houston State University where she majored in History. Her minors were Secondary Education and Sociology. Kirsten received her BA degree in History from Sam Houston in December of 2009. Her research interests deal with parallels in history and experiences of African Americans during the 19th and 20th centuries. Her current research focuses on life during the Reconstruction Era in East Texas. Kirsten aspires to join the faculty of an accredited university with these same interests where she will make declarations about history and her interpretations of it known through historical, scientific, theoretical and philosophical comparisons. She believes her mission is to encourage the parallel of “different” worlds until the illusion of division is recognized. She plans to pursue a PhD in History upon completion of her MA degree in Pan African Studies.
